The war in Ukraine shook the world economy, in particular, due to interruptions in the trade of food products and fertilizers from the central granary of the world — Ukraine. It has left millions of people in developing and least developed countries on the front lines of food and price crises. In July 2022, the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI) was signed, with the participation of Ukraine, Turkey, and Russia and certified by the United Nations, to allow the safe export of grain, fertilizers, and other food products from Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea. The report focuses on showing the benefits of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and its contribution to easing market pressure and preventing the worst consequences of the food crisis.
