| Abstract: | The paper considers the current problems of the development of open resonators (ORs), which are widely used in modern RF and microwave systems of spectroscopy, quantum electronics, sensors and communications. Particular attention is paid to the influence of power losses — diffraction, ohmic and excitation-related — on the Q-factor and efficiency of ORs. It is shown that accurate modeling of the coupling coefficients of slot elements is a complex task that requires simplified theoretical models and experimental verification. It is established that slot elements provide stable frequency characteristics and effective spectrum compression in semi-symmetric ORs. Methods for estimating losses using Fresnel numbers, approximation formulas and adjustment parameters are proposed. The results presented allow us to deepen our understanding of the loss mechanisms and optimize the design of high-frequency resonators, increasing their efficiency in practical applications. |
