Економічні перспективи розвитку готельної справи у воєнний час

Abstract

Анотація. У статті досліджено економічні перспективи розвитку готельної справи України у воєнний період. Розкрито ключові тенденції функціонування галузі гостинності в умовах кризи, зумовленої збройною агресією, визначено основні проблеми та напрями адаптації готельних підприємств до нових реалій. Попри складну ситуацію, готельна справа в Україні має значний потенціал розвитку. Адаптація до нових умов, впровадження сучасних технологій, ефективне управління ресурсами та активізація внутрішнього туризму можуть стати основою економічного відновлення сектору. Воєнний період стимулює пошук інноваційних бізнес-моделей, які дозволяють підвищувати ефективність готельних підприємств і формувати конкурентні переваги навіть за умов кризи. Готельна індустрія зберігає вагомі можливості для відновлення, розвитку внутрішнього туризму та реалізації сталих проєктів у післявоєнний період.

Abstract. Introduction. The article explores the economic prospects for developing the hotel industry in Ukraine during wartime, with a focus on how external and internal challenges have transformed the hospitality sector. The study emphasizes that the hotel industry has become one of the most vulnerable sectors of the national economy due to infrastructure destruction, migration, and reduced tourism. At the same time, however, the war has prompted a rethinking of business strategies and the development of new forms of hospitality that are adapted to the current socioeconomic conditions.

Purpose. The article aims to analyze the current state of the hotel industry in wartime Ukraine, identify key challenges and constraints, and determine economic, managerial, and technological strategies for adaptation and recovery. The article pays special attention to identifying potential growth drivers, such as digital transformation, resource optimization, innovation, and developing domestic and social tourism, which could lay the groundwork for future economic stability in the sector.

Results. Despite significant financial losses and reduced demand, the study shows that the hotel industry demonstrates a high level of resilience and adaptability. Many businesses have reorganized their operations to provide housing for internally displaced persons, military personnel, and volunteers. This change in target markets has allowed businesses to maintain some liquidity and employment. Furthermore, the article reveals that integrating innovative technologies, such as digital booking systems, online service platforms, and energy-efficient solutions, increases operational efficiency. Diversifying services, expanding wellness and ecotourism, and cooperating with local communities are also essential factors for stabilizing the sector.

Conclusions. The wartime period has become a powerful catalyst for structural and organizational transformation in Ukraine’s hospitality industry. The crisis has accelerated the search for innovative business models and enhanced strategic management approaches while encouraging the development of sustainable practices. Despite the current instability, the hotel sector retains significant potential for economic recovery, modernization, and integration into the global tourism market once the war ends. The study’s findings confirm that, with the right combination of state support, private investment, and innovative initiatives, the Ukrainian hotel industry can become a driver of postwar economic revival and lay the groundwork for rebuilding the national tourism infrastructure.
